Three families move into affordable housing in Paignton

Three delighted families moved into their new homes on the Fusion estate in Paignton on Thursday as Westward let the properties to local families through Devon Home Choice. Two more households will also move into their shared ownership homes in Foxglove Way this month.

Sherrell and Romel Dagli (pictured with their family and Westward Housing Officer Rudolph Archer), delighted new residents, said, “It’s a great opportunity for us to build the foundations of our family here. It’s a lovely house and the estate is so quiet and safe. It’s really very nice as an area for a family to grow up.”

The properties are the latest phase in a mix of 23 rented and 6 shared ownership Westward homes at Fusion, off the Brixham Road. All properties have been built by Cavanna Homes and are funded by Westward.

The latest two one-bedroom flats, four two-bedroom houses and two four-bedroom houses have provided much needed housing in Torbay.

Brian Aird, Chair of Westward, speaking at the handover day, said, “I am pleased to see Westward providing high quality homes in such an attractive estate; the properties we have across Fusion give local people the chance to rent or buy into shared ownership affordably with Westward. Affordable housing of this quality makes us proud to serve our customers.”

The latest homes are part of a larger development of over 200 properties being built by Cavanna Homes near to amenities including a supermarket, play area and planned health centre.

Westward’s Executive Director of Development Jill Gregg said the homes are built to the highest standards for house building and energy efficiency.

Jill said: “We took some Westward residents to visit these new homes and they were completely overwhelmed by the size, layout and quality of workmanship.  Our thanks to Cavanna Homes and all those involved in the construction work.”

Later in the year Westward will provide a further five rental homes on the site including three two-bedroom homes for rent and two one-bedroom flats.

The homes provide top quality affordable accommodation for local people, taken directly from housing waiting lists. They are situated near great local facilities including shops, leisure facilities and schools.
