South West housing associations secure backing to deliver thousands of affordable homes
Homes for the South West (H4SW), the leading voice for affordable housing in the South West, has welcomed today’s announcement from Homes England confirming that five H4SW members have been selected as Strategic Partners under the Social and Affordable Homes Programme 2026-2036.
The successful organisations include:
• Magna Housing
• Plymouth Community Homes
• Abri Group
• Bromford Flagship LiveWest
• Stonewater
Together, these organisations will help deliver thousands of affordable homes across the South West, supported through long-term Government investment.
Jonathan Cowie, co-chair of Homes for the South West, said: “This announcement demonstrates both the scale of housing need in the South West and the confidence Homes England has in housing associations across our region to deliver more homes.
We welcome this investment and thank Homes England for its support, which will enable the delivery of much-needed affordable homes, create opportunities for local communities and contribute to regional growth over the coming decade.

The announcement comes as the Government launches its £39 billion Social and Affordable Homes Programme, described as the largest investment in social and affordable housing in a generation. Homes for the South West has welcomed the additional certainty this provides for housing providers to plan for the long term and bring forward more affordable homes across the region. H4SW’s twelve member housing associations collectively house more than half a million people, own over 250,000 homes and contribute £1 billion annually to the South West economy. Together, they have delivered more than 21,000 social and affordable homes over the past five years and have the scale, expertise and regional reach to help translate this investment into homes, jobs and growth across the South West.
The South West is the joint second fastest-growing economic region in the UK. Homes England has confirmed over £1.5 billion of investment into housebuilding in the region, backing providers with the scale and track record needed to deliver.
