New homes ready as Plymouth Community Homes celebrate first handover

Homes for the South West member, Plymouth Community Homes, have been handed the first six homes at their biggest new-build scheme outside of Plymouth.

They will have 51 homes at Meadowbrook in Callington and the first of these are now complete.

They include three for affordable rent and three for shared ownership sale through SO Living.

Meadowbrook is being built by Devon-based Baker Estates and they will have 36 homes for affordable rent and 15 for shared ownership in total.

There will be eight one-bed flats, 13 two-bed houses, 10 three-bed houses and five four bed houses for affordable rent.

The scheme will also consist of 10 two-bed houses and five three-bed houses for shared ownership sale.

First preference will be for buyers and renters with a local connection. They expect their next properties to be completed early next year.

There will also be 120 homes for open market sale through Baker Estates.

Gavin Sutton, PCH Project Manager, said:

“It’s great to be working with Baker Estates. Both the design and standard of the build of the properties at Meadowbrook is exceptional. The site team’s commitment to quality is clearly evident and I was pleased to hear that they have recently won the most highly-regarded competition in the industry, an NHBC Pride in the Job award. It’s great to see the first homes handed over and we look forward to seeing people move into their new homes.”

Ian Baker, Managing Director of Baker Estates, added:

“We are delighted to be working with Plymouth Community Homes to help provide much-needed affordable housing in the area. The site is looking fantastic and we cannot wait for everyone to move into this wonderful development.”
