First Poet’s Corner homes ready in Plymouth
Homes for the South West member, Plymouth Community Homes (PCH), has unveiled the first homes at the Poet’s Corner development in Manadon.
PCH has taken handover of 18 homes from builders Kier – four for affordable rent and 14 for shared ownership sale through SO Living.
The rented properties are due to be advertised on Devon Home Choice in the next few weeks.
The first shared ownership home at the scheme, at Chaucer Way, has already been sold and five of the remaining ones have been reserved.
In total, PCH will deliver 51 homes at Poet’s Corner – 31 for affordable rent and 20 for shared ownership.
Gavin Sutton, PCH Project Manager, said:
“There will be monthly handovers at Poet’s Corner until the scheme is complete in April. We’re very excited about seeing all the new residents move in to quality affordable homes at this development in the weeks and months to come.”
Poet’s Corner is a mixed-tenure development. All the open market homes have now been sold by Kier Living.
PCH customers Yvonne Lorrison and partner David Orr were the first people to buy a shared ownership home at Poet’s Corner.
Yvonne said:
“We were renting beforehand but it’s dead money. Owning gives us more security. We can save up and buy more shares in time.
“For people who don’t have the finances to buy outright it’s amazing. It gives you the chance to get on the property ladder.
“Cathy from SO Living was really helpful and tried to make it as stress-free as possible. Moving is stressful as it is. But it’s all worth it in the end.
“We love it here. We want to make it a home now. We’re putting in our own touches. I hope we can make some nice memories here.”
