Yarlington to deliver 265 new homes in the south west

Homes for the South West member, Yarlington Housing Group continues its commitment to providing affordable housing in the south west with 265 homes currently in development in Somerton, Castle Cary, Cullompton, Dorchester, Yeovil and Bridgwater.

On the developments, Yarlington’s Executive Director of Growth and Development, Stephen Lodge, said:

“The combination of developments highlights Yarlington’s commitment to building 1,500 new homes in the south west as part of our Next-Gen corporate strategy. We remain dedicated to achieving this goal to ensure communities stay together and to meet people’s needs across all tenures.”

In Somerton, development continues at Patch Meadows, with 24 properties currently completed and an additional 29 homes to follow over the next 15-18 months. Of these, 16 will be available for shared ownership and 13 for social rent. 

Additionally, Yarlington recently completed 19 homes for shared ownership at Wyndham Park, Yeovil. These were bought as an off the shelf purchase from Barratt Homes to provide affordable homes in the area.

Yarlington has also collaborated with several land owners to build 37 new affordable homes next to Bridgwater College Academy which will include a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom houses as well as one and two-bedroom flats. 11 properties will be for shared ownership and 26 for affordable rent. 

In Castle Cary, Yarlington is building on two developments, Well Farm and Station Road. At Well Farm, eight homes have already been completed and five properties are due to be occupied from September, in total there will be four shared ownership homes and nine for social rent. Station Road will see 50 homes built, 24 houses for outright sale, followed by 26 affordable homes; 18 for social rent and eight for shared ownership.

Outside of Somerset, Yarlington has developments underway in Cullompton with 50 homes at the Saxon Fields development – 25 for shared ownership and 25 for affordable rent. Of the 50 homes in Cullompton, 38 homes have been completed so far and the remaining 12 will be finished at the end of the year, comprising nine homes for shared ownership and three for social rent.

Finally, in Poundbury, Dorchester at the North East Quadrant Yarlington has plans for 43 homes, 16 for shared ownership and 27 for affordable rent. 11 of these homes have already been delivered with ten for shared ownership and one for affordable rent. The remaining 32 homes are due for completion over the next two years.
